# Products & Quotes

A deal value typed in by hand is a guess. If you keep a catalog of what you sell, you can build the quote on the deal instead — products, quantities and prices — and let Zero work out the contract value and write it back to the deal.

## Product catalog

Admins manage the catalog in **Settings → Workspace → Products**.

**Add product** creates one: a **Product name**, an optional **SKU** and **Description**, and one or more **Prices**. A price has a **Price name**, an amount, a billing **Interval** (**One-time**, **Daily**, **Weekly**, **Monthly**, **Quarterly** or **Yearly**) and an optional **Min term** in months. Mark one as the **Default price** — that is what gets applied when the product lands on a quote.

One product can be the **Default product**, prefilled as a line item on every new quote.

Archiving takes a product out of the catalog without touching existing quotes, whose line items stay as they are. Archived products sit under **Archived** and can be restored.

## Quotes on a deal

Quotes live on deals. The **Quotes** section of a deal's **Overview** tab shows a card per quote with its name, status, total and line-item count; **+** adds one, clicking a card edits it.

A quote has:

* A **Quote name**, a status (**Draft**, **Sent**, **Accepted**, **Rejected**, or **Expired**), and an optional **Expires** date.
* A **Contract term** in months. Zero prefills it from the minimum term of the prices on the quote.
* **Line items**. Click **Add line item** and either pick a **Product** and one of its prices from the catalog, or type a custom **Item name** with its own **Unit price** and **Billing period**. Set the **Quantity** and, if you want, a discount as an amount or a percentage.

Totals recompute as you edit. **Total (TCV)** is the one-time line items plus the recurring ones across the contract term, with monthly and yearly recurring values (**MRR** and **ARR**) beside it; a yearly price on a shorter term is prorated.

Saving a quote offers to **update the deal value** to the quoted MRR, ARR or TCV, defaulting to your workspace's deal value unit from **Settings → Workspace → General**.

Quotes are also available to [Chat](/getting-started/chat.md) and [MCP](/developers/mcp.md), and through the [API](/developers/api.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.zero.inc/tracking-context/products-and-quotes.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
